Igor Zaks to Moderate AWCF 26 Panel on Rebuilding Trust in Alternative Finance
Tenzor Ltd. President Igor Zaks will be speaking at AWCF 26 – the 12th Annual Alternative & Working Capital Finance event, taking place on 30 November 2026 at Clifford Chance in London.
Igor will moderate Panel 2: “Lessons from the Major Credit Failures: Rebuilding Trust in Alternative Finance.”
The session will examine how recent failures and frauds have changed the way investors, banks and other capital providers assess risk across receivables finance, trade finance, supply chain finance and private credit.
From credit failures to better risk management
Recent market events have highlighted weaknesses that extend well beyond individual transactions. Poor underwriting, fictitious or duplicated collateral, concentration risk, weak governance, excessive reliance on insurance and inadequate operational controls can combine to create losses that spread rapidly across investors, lenders and markets.
The panel will look at what went wrong in major credit failures — but, more importantly, what lenders and investors should do differently.
Topics will include:
- What recent frauds and market collapses revealed about alternative finance markets
- Weak underwriting, fake collateral, concentration risk and governance failures
- What investors missed — and what they now require
- Insurance dependency, operational weaknesses and international contagion risks
- How investors now conduct due diligence across global markets
- The use of AI to identify fraud, anomalies, duplicate invoices and unusual transaction patterns
- Whether extraction software and real-time data feeds can improve transparency without becoming intrusive for borrowers
- How banks can maintain better oversight of financed assets and receivables while minimizing friction for clients
- The role fintechs can play in monitoring collateral, receivables pools and transaction flows
- The difference between technology that genuinely reduces risk and technology that creates additional opacity
The discussion will also look ahead to emerging risks, including cyber threats, AI-generated manipulation, synthetic data and the longer-term implications of quantum computing for financial security and verification systems.
Rebuilding trust without losing flexibility
A central challenge for the alternative finance industry is finding the right balance between stronger risk controls and the speed and flexibility that make these financing structures attractive.
Greater transparency does not necessarily have to mean heavier processes. Better data architecture, transaction-level monitoring and intelligently applied technology can potentially give lenders and investors substantially greater visibility while reducing the operational burden on borrowers.
This is particularly important as banks, private credit funds and institutional investors increasingly look for scalable ways to finance working-capital assets across multiple jurisdictions.
